A basic sales process is to discuss features and benefits. The ‘Feature’ is the specifications of the product. The ‘Benefit’ is how the performance of the product will benefit the user. A feature of a remote control for a television would be the group of buttons. The benefit is not needing to get up from the couch. An employer wants “the what, how, where, and when” you used your skills. They want to hear how your features will benefit them and how you excelled in your performance and how your accomplishments set you apart from the other candidates. Remember, if there is only one job and there are hundreds or thousands of applicants, you have to be the best fit.
